Regardless of what you may think, this game isn't just for guitar players. There are also vocals ("sacred microphone"), and drums ("airstriker") modes available. It is also fully possible to play with a full band and I would highly encourage it. By playing as a full band the game becomes a lot easier as the powers are different on different musicians can and do stack! I tend to do vocals and have to admit this game has one of the best vocal recognitions I have played with yet. It's better than Rock Band! However, you will end up doing the same songs over and over at first which can get tiring. Stick with it, though, and more will unlock. The songs are also fairly obscure and "college-y", which can throw in a curve ball for some players. If you like RPGs, this game will have you covered. It's not a band game but a musical RPG! You sing and play to unite the clans and overthrow the dictator instead of using swords. There is some strategy involved which is very refreshing in a musical game. Overall this is a great game, especially for full band and vocalists. As long as you don't mind unlocking most of the songs you will have fun.Read full review
I have to say this was one of the worst 30 minutes of game play in my life. I bought the game and guitar bundle with the idea of learning the basics of playing a real guitar...boy was I wrong. First of all the guitar works the same as a Rock Band/Guitar Hero guitar cause you still have to press certain colors to play notes...all the stings are just for show. Also the Guitar weighs about 100 pounds....its really heavy. The Game itself is just embarrassing. The graphics are last generation and the animations dont even attempt to sync up with the songs or lyrics. No matter home much time I spent calibrating my guitar it would sync with the game. Avoid this embarrassment at all costs.
Love it! The guitar is cool but hard to keep tuned. Game is fun to play. I was playing the game with my family and found that at times I could not get the notes to play. Most of the songs in this game were not familiar to me, I was shocked that I liked over 90 percent of them.

I bought this game for my grandchildren. I chose Power Gig because of the bands listed. I am disappointed, as are they, because it only allows you to play ....maybe 1/3 of the songs listed!!???? The instructions do not explain. I will investigate, but until I find a resolve, this is how I feel. ):
